What does the Summer School Session entail?
We offer three programmes. 1. Advanced High School Programme (O-Level Equivalent): This is designed for high school juniors and seniors to experience college education. This will include a variety of different academic and interest-based courses to prepare them for their future. 2. College Preparatory Programme (A-Level Equivalent): This is designed to prepare students for college applications. In addition to offering students an experience of college education, this will include additional college coaching workshops on the application process, its components, and required tests. 3. Young Scholars Programme (For ages 9-12): Young Learners selected for the programme will get the opportunity to interact with peers and mentors, attend classes that introduce them to an interdisciplinary approach to learning, and spend their summer making incredible memories.
What is the fee structure of the programme?
Fee Structure Summer School @LUMS 2023: Young Learners Programme: Course Fee: PKR: 65,000/- Advanced High School Programme: Course Fee: PKR: 65,000/- College Preparatory Programme: Course Fee- PKR: 75,000/- If you wish to avail accommodation, the hostel fee is PKR: 12,500/- *SAT Coaching: PKR 15,000 (for College Preparatory programme only) *Extra Electives: PKR 10,000/- Each Refundable security fee PKR: 5000/-
How to apply for this programme?
Participants must register online through the website by clicking on their desired programme and filling out a one-page form. Before starting the registration process, please ensure that you have the following: - A passport-sized photograph for the CES smartcard. It should be against a white background. - Correct CNIC/ B Form details. Incorrect information provided during the registration process will lead towards cancellation of your enrolment at any stage, and participants will not be entitled to claim a refund. Once you have completed your online registration, you may proceed to the payment section. You have two options: 1. Pay online using your bank debit/credit cards through LUMS online payment system https://pay.lums.edu.pk 2. Download the fee voucher and deposit cash in any branch of the designated banks specified on the fee voucher. Once the payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 to 48 working hours, and your payment status will be updated to "ENROLLED" in the online application portal. Installment: KalPay Taleem offers an instalment facility for participants enrolled in CES on-campus courses and workshops. What is the application deadline?
We work on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, you can apply for the programme up until the point it is filled. We suggest students to apply as early as possible.
Does attending the LUMS Summer School Programme improve my chances of being accepted at LUMS as an undergraduate student?
LUMS does not have a preference for students who attend LUMS Summer School. However, it is encouraged that you take up any activity, class or program that you are interested in. This does add value to your application. What is important to LUMS is how you learn, grow and contribute because of these experiences.
I have registered and paid for the programme. What is next?
After your payment, you are officially a student at our Summer School. You will be notified of further details via email.
Will I get a refund if I wish to withdraw from the programme?
The fee for the programme is non-refundable.
Are there any discounts or scholarships available?
We offer two discount options: 1. Sibling Discount: Register two siblings and get 10% off! 2. Group Discount: Register in a group of 5 students or more, and get 10% off!
Is hostel accommodation available?
Hostel accommodation is available for our Summer School students. There are separate dormitories for females and males. The LUMS accommodation will offer twin-sharing rooms. You will be provided with a bed and mattress, a desk, a chair and a cupboard. There is a common room on each floor with constant air conditioning and a TV. Every floor is also equipped with a kitchen, which is furnished with an iron stand, stove, microwave, fridge and water cooler. You will be required to bring your own crockery as it will not be provided by hostels. Furthermore, there are two bathrooms on each floor with five shower cabins and five toilet cabins each. There is also a laundry service available on-campus.
How often can students have guest visits?
There will be designated visiting timings usually in the evenings. However, if the student wishes to go out of LUMS, we would need a permission email from their parent/guardian.
What happens if a student has a medical emergency during the session?
In the event of any medical emergency, parents will be contacted as soon as possible. In the absence of parents, the CES Team will accompany the injured/sick to our on-campus Emergency Medical Centre. It is important that the CES Team are kept up-to-date with any treatment an individual receives in case he presents with a related problem.
What campus facilities will be available to the students during the Summer programme?
There are multiple facilities like, dining, cricket and volleyball grounds, mosque, super store and the pharmacy.
Should I bring electronics, such as laptops and cell phones?
Yes. Students are expected to bring electronics for both school and personal use. Once registered on the university network, students can access their school work, check assignments, and do Internet research within the parameters of our premises. The school supports both PC and Mac operating systems and also has numerous computers available in our computer lab for students to work on throughout the day.
Does the cost include meals during the Summer School @ LUMS activities?
The cost of meals is not included in the Summer School @ LUMS fee. The students will need to bring cash for their meals from any of the LUMS in-house dining facilities.
