The Summer School at LUMS is a means through which high school students can learn versatile and effective skills that will aid them in their educational and everyday lives. The courses and workshops being offered will allow them to explore new interests and nurture preexisting ones while at the same time improving their academic and intellectual abilities.

One of the workshops the students took part in was a filmmaking workshop. Now what is filmmaking? In a nutshell filmmaking could be described as the act of taking pictures and putting them together. However, this simple definition fails to acknowledge the expertise and skills required to create an amazing piece of film.

The summer school participants were taught by guest speaker, Shahrukh Naveed. They were taught how to use their own smartphones to capture and edit video footage while at the same time learning the best and most effective ways to take pictures. The students discovered that even the smallest and seemingly miniscule of details could completely change the way one's final picture or video could look be it for good or bad. The workshop provided them with the opportunity to truly comprehend the intricate details and complex abilities needed to excel in this amazing art.
